civ iv install problem :-/
I have
1. double checked system requirements (we have more than 80% free space so it doesn't think that we need to defrag)
2. scanned computer for spyware ect.
3. checking support website for game:

After inserting the 2nd disc I receive an error that the setup program can’t locate the files? (CD-ROM Version only)

Verify that you are installing the disc from the CD-ROM drive with the lowest letter in the alphabet and that you are directing the path to that CD-ROM drive. If you encounter this problem use an Express Installation and just click Next and Ok until the installation is complete.

Hopefully that will work. Even though that sounds almost exactly what I did last night.

didn't work found this on a help site:
My disc were labeled wrong, Disc1/install disc2/play, i put Disc 1 in had no more cannot find disc error. hope it works for you as well.

(talking about how disc one is play and not just the install cd :-/)-- that's all ive been able to find so far.. and there's only about 1138 bug reports i have to sift through. *trying disc one again* nothing happens. other then figuring out that we had norton and sbc firewalls turned on at the same time *disables one* I'm not making fast progress here.

no bug reports were helpful to me but i did find this:

In order to help you most effectively with any PC related questions we need you to attach your DxDiag and MSinfo when contacting us via email.

Here are instructions on how to do this.

To create the DxDiag.txt and MSinfo.txt, please do the following:
1.) Run DXDIAG.EXE from your Start menu (click Start, Run..., then type "dxdiag" and hit Enter)
2.) Click the "Save all Information" button, located at the bottom of the program window
3.) Save the file as "dxdiag.txt"
4.) Click the "More Help" tab
5.) Click the button marked "MSinfo..."
6.) Click on the "File" menu and choose "Export" (Do not use "save")
7.) Then save the file as a Text Document and name it "MSinfo.txt"
8.) If possible, please put these files in a .zip format and attach them to your email. (When inside of your email program there is usually a "Paperclip" button or icon which is the attachment option.)
Be sure to include a detailed description of the problem you are having and the text of any detailed error messages that appear.

It will also help us if you can send a screenshot of the error message along with the both text files.

wish me luck!
Hello,
I recently bought civilzation iv for a christmas gift to my husband, we have not been able to successfully finish the installation process. Disc one installs perfectly up to the point where it asks us to please switch to the second disc. we put the second disc in our dvd-cd rom drive and wait. It reads the disc yet it doesn't start the rest of the install process. we clicked browse and drive e: is empty

We then tried to open the disc through "our computer" -- no sucess there either. still comes up as blank with out files or folders. I have tried with several variations restarting the computer, rechecking our system requirements, rechecking our free space 83% - no need to defrag, rechecked for spyware, got rid of temp files and recycling bin items, turned off firewall, rechecked the auto play settings, blew on disc, checked disc for damage.

We checked the website and the fan website for additional help, they only sugested that we make sure we were accessing the right drive which we are.

we tried calling your number but it said you weren't open until nine. we called shortly after nine and only recived a message that the number was not valid.

Please Help Us Install your product ASAP. (email sent around 9:30am)
