*flipping of pages*

Well, I've looked through all the books I still had from when I went to magic school, and I found nothing about why islands would be falling. Plenty of theories--mana crystals, angels, magical creatures being the soul of the islands and Reial--but nothing actually...well, concrete.

*closing of a book* So, anyone else got any

scholar penny, well that was a waste of time, mage

Hey, guess who doesn't know you're a pirate edge_of_honor December 28 2008, 00:11:29 UTC
While I'm not a mage or a scientist, if I had to guess, I'd say that the answers we're looking for are tied to another question: how do the islands and continents float to begin with? If we knew the answer to that, we would have greater insight on this problem.

She's a Nurse Practioner Mage, TYVM :P penny_dancer December 28 2008, 00:13:06 UTC
Yeah...I was hoping my books would have something about how we're floating up here.

I wonder if someone can fly below the cloud cover to check it out....

A Nurse Practitioner Mage on a *pirate* ship. That's close enough for Edgeworth edge_of_honor December 28 2008, 00:17:31 UTC
Oh, people have tried, but you know how the story goes: a team goes down, they're unable to return, and instead of improving the problems from the last expedition they hide away for the next couple of decades. At least, until someone else decides to try again, and the cycle repeats itself once more.

She has never pirated anything! Not even a radio show! penny_dancer December 28 2008, 00:21:46 UTC
Yeah, I know. A girl can dream, though.

I wonder if they ever tried sending a willing demihuman down there...

But she still acts as an enabler 8( edge_of_honor December 28 2008, 00:30:23 UTC
I can't say for certain, but it wouldn't surprise me. After all, it's not the first time demi-humans have been used for unpleasant or dangerous tasks. The only question is how willing they actually were.

So being a medic's a crime, huh? :P penny_dancer December 28 2008, 00:34:03 UTC
Oh yeah. I forget some bigwigs don't care about rights.

Too bad we can't, like...drill a hole down to the center of Reial and check it out that way...

No, but working as an accomplice is a crime edge_of_honor December 28 2008, 01:18:51 UTC
While I can't fault you for your creativity, I'm afraid that would cause more problems than it would solve.

A girl can dream, can't she?

...I wonder if it has anything to do with that blue shiny stuff we saw...

[ooc: strikes not there at all]

She is aware that she's on a pirate ship, y/n? edge_of_honor December 28 2008, 01:26:50 UTC
She can, but some dreams just aren't worth pursuing. Especially when they involve drilling through an entire continent.

They haven't done any pirating so far, therefore she can say she thought they aren't really pirates penny_dancer December 28 2008, 01:30:51 UTC
What about magic, huh? Blast a hole in Reial?

Reply

It's only a matter of time before they do, though edge_of_honor December 28 2008, 01:33:51 UTC
Oh, that would be even worse. Instead of a nice, neat hole, you might just split the entire thing in two.

At the rate things are going? Not likely penny_dancer December 28 2008, 01:35:17 UTC
Okay then...dynamite! Dynamite's easier to control than magic is~

Just you wait, young lady edge_of_honor December 28 2008, 01:36:21 UTC
Yes, but how are you going to get enough dynamite to create a hole that deep?

OBJECTION! penny_dancer December 28 2008, 01:37:58 UTC
I know a few people with replication spells!

[Present Evidence y/n?] edge_of_honor December 28 2008, 01:40:32 UTC
That must come in handy. However, objects created by duplication spells are rarely of the same quality as the original. You could end up with some duds, or something far more dangerous and unpredictable.

Oh...right. Ugh, now I'm remembering that weird marmalade monster that came from duplication...it ate a guy's shoe!
