And it occurs to me that I have NO IDEA what sort of case Sherlock would solve in my Discworld crossover. All I've got is this image in my head of a decapitated troll (which is a bit sad because I love trolls. Detritus is my stone-skinned boyfriend.) But I have no idea what would make it a Sherlock case.
It's tricky. In ordinary Sherlock you can sort of rely on dumbing down the Yard a bit to make things seem more complex than they are. But DW has a rich and vibrant history of competence in the police force. Carrot, Angua, Cheery, and Vimes pulled together equals solved case. So it's got to be a real stumper. I mean, I don't have Carrot, Angua, Cheery, or Vimes in this (sob) but I can't just take Pseudepolis yard and fill it with a bunch of Andersons!
Hell, even Anderson is going to get a competence-upgrade.
So, here's my question.
What could be so bizarre, in the Discworld, that the normal police force can't suss it? The trolls have a drug trafficking problem, the Zombies and assorted Undead are leading a civil-rights uprising, assassination is considered an upwardly-mobile career move, thieves hand out reciepts after a mugging, HOW DOES PTERRY DO THIS?!
So...that is to say...
