26. Witch (Harry Potter; Vernon/Petunia; G)
Petunia has Lily’s wand in her hand, and Lily fears she can’t stop her. “Tuny, don’t do it.”
“Vernon broke up with me,” Petunia tries to lower her high voice to a threatening bass. “He saw you using this the other day and now he won’t talk to me. A-and we were going to get married…” Despite herself, Petunia begins to cry.
“I’m sorry!” Lily insists. “I didn’t mean for that-it’s awful, I’m so, so sorry-”
Petunia doesn’t listen. The wand breaks between her fingers. For the first time since her first year, Lily despises being a witch.
