The local landmark Country Junction burned down the other day. It's almost sad that so many people around here cared so deeply about a store, but I'm one of them too. I knew a lot of people that worked there, and I enjoyed Halloween there every year (until college). I also enjoyed sleeping in their ample furniture section, and playing with the animals (also very sadly, a few of them did not survive). It will be back, but it won't be the same.
Of course, this happened on my day off, when all the 'real' news seems to take place. Instead I get sent to cover wonderful garbage like a rabies education thing at Carbon County Friends of Animals...I like animals, but God that was boring. It was almost as boring as the poetry reading I covered last Saturday. There was some semi-big news that I covered today, however, and that was the announcing of a general manager and president of the AAA baseball team that is coming to Allentown in 2008. That's a while away, but I am gonna love having professional baseball that close to home. I love going to Red Barons games, and now they're going to be like...20 minutes away, which is gonna be pretty sweet. Yea I'm a loser, fuck you I enjoy my life. Anyway...
The Eagles are 3-1 (side note: I got my new Stallworth jersey in the mail today, but for superstitious reasons I won't wear it on game days) and hockey season has officially begun. Once again, the Phillies came oh so close to making the playoffs and came up just short. I wonder how many years this can go on. But oh well, it's hockey season. And it's still NASCAR season. But most importantly, it's still FOOTBALL SEASON.
I love football. I also love food, and I need to go get some.
