Sometimes I need to rant and yell. Posting things piecemeal to Twitter is annoying. Facebook limits posts to 420 characters. LiveJournal it is! So, to pass the time while I couldn't sleep, I watched "101 Ways to Pad a Game Show Out to a Truly Ridiculous Length," aka "101 Ways to Leave a Game Show." Why is it that the pace of everything in society has been steadily accelerating for years, until daily life is moving at a dizzying and inhuman pace, but game shows are getting ever slower? I mean, seriously, here's an hour-long game show--60 dreadful minutes--in which a grand total of FIVE, count them, FIVE questions is asked. And thanks to the way it's structured, the $50,000 winner only has to answer three of them. Are we heading toward a day when game shows will be Byzantine exercises in procrastination that manage to drag out a single winner-take-all question into an hour-long endurance contest?
