douceur de la vie

well gentlemen and laydees:
good evening frieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeends!
i am on hols and full of the faffage so i thought i'd check in.
this semster has been spiffy so far. i had my birthday. i made a cake with rum, and a snowman.  i went to the pillowfight in union square. i sold a painting. i somehow got into oxford. so much joy.
now i am on hols and have elected to stay at SLC, for why would i want to be anywhere else? I've been having the most AMAZING time.  there is no-one to bother me. i can do exactly as i please. it is so lovely not to see anyone, and to sleep 12 hours a night, and never get out of your jimmie jammies, and watch tv all day, and wander the campus pretending to be the only survivor of the zombie apocalypse.  it's not that i don't like hanging out with people, i just like my room to be a sort of retreat, or sanctuary, from which i can sally forth for hangoutage, but remain itself my own own space.
lauren and kiarra were kind enough to lend me their keys, so i could have hot food and not live on jello.  it's such larks!
but when i shop for myself i realize i have very odd tastes. for example, to-day i went shopping and i bought: five boxes of jello, buffalo mozzarella, figs,  asparagus, and a spinach-date-almond cake.  i love cooking, but i can't wait until the school starts feeding me again.
the only work i have done is painting. i'm working on this HUGE-ass canvas.  i want to immortalize this amazing dude i met one time.
i'm also very incited about oxford.  it's so spiffy that i got in.  but really, i had to, bc what would i have done if i hadn't? i had no backup plan. i didn't really want to go to ucl, and that's why i held off applying so long.  it's going to be amazing.  i don't care how hard i have to work.  besides, since i've done zero work this year (seriously. ZERO.), i'm refreshed and ready for it. i can't wait for full english breakfasts and pasties from the shop on george st. and oxfam and sainsbury's and dame's delight and christchurch and mcvitie's and the botanic gardens and english robins and cornmarket st. and being crusty and academic.  i hope the posh people at oxford don't think i'm a sheep-shagging bastard from ripon who knows piss-all about anything and ought to go back north and be a veterinarian or summat....
ah well. i had fun to-day. i went to bronxville with lauren and had chocolate-hazelnut gelato and frolicked in the sun.
now i'm dancing like it's 1984.
so little time, so much to do.  before the end of the year i really want to have the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire Party.

i hope everyone is having a great hols too.  prepare for mightyness when all return.  much is coming up, including the second annual prince of egypt library debauch!

Huzzah!

toodles for now cupcakes and muffins!
love, gwen
