911
So, I'm DDing for yet another 21st birthday tonight. I drop them off at the bar, and head back to campus. I had turned left on E. Walnut St, and there's a truck ahead of me and a blue jeep thing ahead of the truck. the jeep is all over the place, taking up more than one lane a lot of the time, and is going various speeds. the truck is pissed off, and tries to pass on the right. the jeep started veering off the right, and the truck zooms off, giving the jeep the finger. the jeep slows down a little, and continues normally for about 10 seconds. then we pass a side street where a car turns and is now inbetween me and the jeep. pretty much the same thing happens, only it was like the jeep deliberately was trying to run the car off the road. knowing that the jeep was near the bars on Washington, I decided that they could either be intoxicated or a deliberately bad driver, both of which deserve a call to the authorities. I'm sure there's a certain number i can call, but since i was driving i had no access to anything, so i called 911. i told them i may have an intoxicated driver ahead of me, gave them my location and their liscense plate. they asked which direction i was headed, but since i had turned off Walnut to follow the jeep to get the plate number i wasn't sure (you all know how bad i am with directions). i told them the next street i passed, and they knew where i was. they asked for my name and number i was calling from and said they'd send someone out.
i didn't want to keep following them because who knows what could have happened. they had pulled over to let me pass, and i drove by really slow so i could grab the plate number, so they probably saw me on my cell phone and assumed i called them in and now they're hiding. they turned right on the next street after i was a little ways away, and i told the cops that before i was too far away to see what happened.
it was scary, i saw what could have beeen TWO very bad accidents. and they may hide out somewhere and nothing will happen. it sucks. Well, i was a responsible citizen and called it in, but i'm still way nervous from calling 911. all my life i've heard 911 is only for emergencies! even on campus, it's like, if it's not really really serious, only call Public Safety! but yeah. i did what i could. i hope it was enough though.
seriously people...don't drink and drive! or be a jerk on the road
