Just got a look at the prototype of the cover for The Steampunk Bible (Abrams Images) by me and Jeff VanderMeer.  There is still some tweaking needed with legibility and what-not’s, but  I am in love with this cover.

It reminds me of the Voyages Extraordinaire originals, and I am just amazed at what a true object d’art this book has become over the past year.  It should be out on bookshelves  May 2011, and is already available for pre-order at Amazon.com for a ridiculously low-price.

The World Fantasy Awards were announced last night, and in addition to congrats to all the winners, I wanted to send an especial congratulatory squee towards Susan Marie Groppi,  who won the Special Achievement award for her ten years as editor-in-chief at Strange Horizons.  Susan just stepped down today and I can’t think of a better send-off than the recognition she received last night.  It’s been a real pleasure working with her over the past two years, and I wish her all the luck in the future.  So congrats to Susan, and congrats to Niall Harrison who will be stepping up to bat for the next round of Strange Horizon goodness.

In addition to World Fantasy Awards, another award was given yesterday over at Innsmouth Free Press.  Travis King won the coveted Poe Haiku contest, and will be receiving in the mail an Edgar Allan Poe Action Figure from my personal Poe collection; I believe the other winners will receive cool DVDs of Price/Corman/Poe flicks from various patrons.  The list of winners can be found here. Congrats to you all!  The Poe Haiku contest wrapped up the very fun Poe week over there, which included an interview with me on all things Poe.  Thanks to Silvia for doing the interview and letting me participate in Poe Week.

Phew.  A lot for a Monday, no?
