Happy St. Patrick's Day!

A couple people mentioned to me that it would be fun if I wrote a drabble about Jenny in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.  So with inspiration from a hilarious CC find, here goes.

Just as a note, this takes place before the major fight at the end of the last chapter while Jeanie is still a toddler.

Dorian arrived home from work and walked through the front door and immediately froze.  He felt like he had walked into a wall of green and for a moment he was sure that he had the wrong house.  It wasn’t like the Penguino home didn’t have a lot of green in it already, Jenny had certainly made sure that it was an integral part of the decorating scheme, but now giant green shamrocks lined all of the walls and green throw carpets were spread everywhere on the floor, streamers hung from every ceiling and Jeanie was crawling around the floor with green ribbons in her hair and a scowl on her face.

“Jenny?” Dorian called a bit perplexed.

“Kitchen!” Jenny called back.

Now Dorian was really confused.  Jenny’s mother Cara was the one that usually did the cooking as Jenny preferred to do other things, like dancing.

But there she was practically dancing around the kitchen, icing shamrock shaped cookies that had finished cooling with green frosting while more cooked in the oven.

“Okay, who are you and what have you done with my wife?” Dorian asked as he leaned on one of the counters.

“It’s St. Patrick’s Day!” Jenny said dancing a jig across the floor and landing a kiss on Dorian’s cheek.

“Ah yes…how on earth did I forget that,” Dorian replied, wondering why the shamrocks on the walls hadn’t clued him in when he walked in the door.  “How did the performance downtown go then?  I know you were planning one.”

“Perfect,” Jenny replied.  “Memphis was a hit and everyone loved my routine as well.”

“Glad to hear it,” Dorian smiled at his wife.

“I picked up a present for you too by the way,” Jenny said as she pulled the last of the cookies out of the oven.

“Oh?”

“Yep.  It’s on the dresser.”

Dorian wandered to the bedroom, pausing along the way to cuddle a grumpy Jeanie and take her to the nursery for a nap.

He quickly found Jenny’s present once he got to their bedroom, a new pair of underwear covered in shamrocks.  He shook his head, smiling. “Leave it to Jenny,” he thought.

Just then Jenny stuck her head in the room, “What do you think?” she asked.  “I got a matching set for myself.”

“Oh really?” Dorian asked raising his eyebrows.  “Well then I guess we had better model them for each other then shouldn’t we?”

“Of course!” Jenny smiled, heading to the bathroom to change.

Dorian grinned.  He loved St. Patrick’s Day at their house.
