Jana's Longest Air Travel Day to Date

Oct 09, 2007 15:39

I started this entry while sitting at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, where we spent most of our day yesterday. WiFi was free, but see, this was unexpected and we were barely physically holding up . We frequently heard from the airport employees, "She's pretty energetic, isn't she?" "She seems really excited." We heard this since we arrived in Phoenix at 8:10am until we boarded our next plane at 3:10pm. Yup. No nap and continuous activity.

We started at the Honolulu Airport Monday night, arriving around 9pm for a 10:55pm flight. Agriculture and TSA checkpoints went smoothly and were very quick. I started to crash at taxi, but Michael says that we took our time taking off, so maybe we took off about 20-30 min later than scheduled. We were supposed to arrive at Phoenix around 7:30am to make our connecting at 8:40am. We touched down at 8:10am then went to wait at the jetway for our stroller. We waited, and waited. The Captain went down to look into the holdup only to come back, wait and go back down. The cargo door was stuck, all of the gate checked strollers were there. We waited and waited.

Not too surprising we missed our flight to be reluctantly booked for a flight 7 hrs later. At least we found a little play area to help Jana bounce around.

Apparently, I dozed off every now and then for about 5 minutes. We really made sure Jana was always comfortable and her needs were met. Michael held up much better than I did, he was able to go with no sleep until we arrived back at home, Tuesday night 11pm.

I have many more entries I want to post regarding this trip (and to post on Jana's birthday party), I hope to diligently post within a week.
