Potty Time!

So Jana had her first successful potties over a year ago, but we were hindered by day care. (They just weren't prepared to start working with the kids on their potty training until this past spring.) We tried a few techniques here and there, but we wanted to make sure we weren't "imposing" or "forcing." The one time we tried the, "let 'em run naked" method, Jana came up to me and said, "I'd like a diaper now."

Around July 4th, we put up a potty training chart,

and taped above it is a collection of "My Little Pony" stickers. We told her if she gets enough stickers, we'll take her to a farm.

I guess it didn't sink in until last weekend, when she had a successful potty and I whisked her out to a farm. One week later, here's what the chart looks like now:

Well, the little stickers (butterflies and flowers) were for sitting but nothing happened. And she did snag and stick the first 5 pony stickers while we thought she was "upstairs playing in her room." The stickers have been placed higher since.

Anyway, she not only has been having successful potties, she's been going on her own, calling when she needs help with wrapping up. Soo, she earned herself a trip to a farm yesterday and today. And on today's trip, she got to sit behind the wheel of some big trucks plus a pony ride. Oh, pictures soon.

Poor thing has a fever right now, I already called off from work for tomorrow. Michael does have the week off because her school is closed this week, but I'd feel better staying home. Sigh, she woke up an hour ago, asking to sit on the potty because, "I have to go to the farm. I have to do that again." But alas, she was too weak to stand. So we just helped her fall back asleep in a regular diaper.
