Finally, tomatoes and peppers (well, a little)

I've been picking zucchini, cucumbers and eggplant now on a regular basis for about a month. Got a handful of tomatoes a couple weeks ago, and then back to our regular programming.

Today, I decided to pick the following:

L-R Back Row: Mtn Princess, Amish Paste, Jelly Bean Hybrid
L-R Front Row: Mini Sweet Red Pepper, Husky Cherry Red (Jana has finally slowed down eating these!), Market Diamante Cherry Pepper

The Amish Paste is a sauce tomato, like a Roma, but um, bigger. And most importantly, MORE FLAVOR. This little fella weighed in at 14.7 oz. Don't believe me?

My Amish Paste tomato plant had a cage and about 4 bamboo stakes, plus they were tied down by the jelly bean tomato container plant. Well, it has a lot of fruit on it and they're all big. I can clearly see at least 1 bamboo stake snapped in half. So I may be picking the fruit as they just turn red then let them turn deeper read inside.

The Mtn Princess was supposed to be my "early" tomato. And the Jelly Bean tomato? Somthing happened because last year, it looked like my icon! I guess while I'm at it, the Mini Red Sweet Pepper was supposed to be Mini Orange and the Cherry Pepper was supposed to be Sweet Tangerine Pimento.

Well, maybe we'll be able to have more homemade pasta sauce this weekend!
