And then there were 3...

On Friday, Mozart was picked up to go to his new family/home.

Mozart had been with me for 12 years now. He lost his mate, Cookie, some years ago already and I kept his last 2 offspring, Mr. and Ms. Yellow. He was a mimic who loved to have his neck scratched. But alas, he was missing the kind of attention he used to get.

Along comes a post on Freecycle from someone looking for a bird cage, which we have a few in storage from my days of cockatiel breeding. Next thing we know, we're exchanging email about adopting one of our current cockatiels.

Sherry picked him up around 3:30 during the cold. I used a box from Gurney's that had pre-cut holes in it to put Mozart in. And asked Sherry to bring an old towel to wrap around it for extra warmth. Then I helped carry his cage and accessories to her mini van. Sherry's mom is an active senior and widow, and is apparently excited to have a talking bird. Mozart wants to be spoken with daily at a length we're not able to do, so this should be better for him.

He's always had that little feather spike. That little feather never grew nor fell out during molting season. Oh, I'll definitely miss that. But we do believe this is better for him in the long run.

Remaining birdies are Mr. Yellow, Ms. Yellow and Boxy. They're apparently less needy than Mozart.
