Right now, we're waiting for Jana to wake up from her nap, which I delayed from 1pm to 4pm. Today has been a big Jana day.
Jana went in the potty for the first time today! She was in the middle of playing pretend swimming in the tub when she stopped, stood up and signed, "poop." So I put her on the potty. She looked puzzled and then stood up then I had her sit again. Success! I let her know how exciting it was what she did, and then she high-fived me. Then she did a little dance. Pretty cool we think.
Earlier in the morning, we walked to the park to catch some of the annual,
Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. In particular, we wanted Jana to be able to watch, "Thunder Run," a parade of motorcycles. She really enjoyed it.
The reason I delayed her nap was because I committed to help with babysitting kids so the Mothers' Center folks on the Steering Committee could have a Planning Meeting Retreat. The retreat was at the
Center for Creative Play. It actually seemed a little harder than what I've ever had to do. I think the biggest difference is that all of the distractions/toys are all out, the facility is huge with multiple rooms, including a wonderfully messy art room...it was a rare occassion to have all 4 kids in one area that they were all in peripheral view. I am fortunate I had one other mom to help.
Observations: Sippy cups can make do as a travel mug, especially in a pinch. Bonus when they're "Insulator Cups."
