Gardening in-between rain...

I took Jana to Home Depot Saturday morning. She said a lot of wow's while in the greenhouse and in the garden section in general. I picked up a 25-pack of 5' bamboo stakes for $2.75. Plus I picked up lavender, rosemary and sage for only $1.49 each. We also took home a good-sized branch that broke off a flower pot while in a greenhouse. Jana really wanted the Home Depot employee to pick it up ssince she broke it. When the employee didn't want to bother, I picked it up and took it home and stuck it in dirt.

When we got home and after her nap, Jana helped me with transplanting some basil and parsley. But first, she had to show the baby herbs to any neighbor who walked by. :) I was bummed to see I lost 1 radish to a baby slug. The slug was so small, I lost him when I tried to pick him up. :( I wonder what kind of beer to try. Do slugs prefer cheap Coors Light? Or maybe some nice microbrew? I'd rather try cheap Coors Light on them though. Hmm, Michael does have some Dunkel we got over Christmas that he wasn't too crazy about.

With all the rains, the tulip recovered. Yay!

So I trellised the Wonder Light tomato and transplanted a sweet pepper and eggplant. I decided to put the teepee on the sweet pepper. Strategically, the teepee and garden fabric should help protect the eggplant. Photos to follow.

I have so many wonderful seeds I acquired in trade that I can't plant them all. I offered to some neighbors in return for a sample. Jason got a bloody butcher tomato seed, only one and it germinated. I'm really glad. I really want to see these and he only took one seed from me. He's also trying for some orange pekoe and chocolate habanero peppers. Good to know, I'll make sure I don't overlap and try some other peppers. Nilu seemed interested. I need to catch up with her.

That's it for now...
