2020 Garden Season Ramping Up
This season is looking to be one of the biggest for me since my community garden days. One of the more reasuring things though, is that a lot of what I'm planning on doing, I've already done. A few things I'm trying new, but for the most part, I plan on exercising some past activities.
AEROGARDENS I have 2 of these and a wall mount that I never used nor even pulled it out of the original box. They got set up and running with 12 yo seed kits.

Unfortunately, the seed kits never germinated after about 2 weeks. So the bottom AeroGarden had seeds replanted with new seeds I hand replaced: basil, cilantro, and oregano. The top had all arugula. In 3 days, the argula sprouted.

Unfortunately, the arugula started getting fried just 1 week in. At week 2 and with the lights as high as they go, they just looked like they partied too hard.

This morning, I retired them, cleaned out the sponges and put in more herbs. Same as the one on the bottom. I'm still using the same nutrient packs that came with the original seed kits.
Now the next item is to decide whether or not to put the AeroGardens on a UPS. We blew a circuit yesterday and when the AeroGardens came back on, they defaulted to a Tomato plant setting. I no long remember how many hours is each setting type, but they're all back on herbs.
I'm still planting herbs outside and in containers, but I figure that I'll pull out the dehydrator or screen if we have more than we can cook or eat.
The parsley has just been a hard keeper, the temps here have been dropping down to the low 40s or high 30s, so I've brought them inside. But they're not holding up indoors. Looks like spider mites. My most successful parsley is just keeping it going outdoors in a bed. It even holds up to the wild bunny that comes by for a snack. Haha!
