Black Friday - Yes, we did shop.

Thanksgiving was nice and casual. We baked brownies (Barefoot Contessa's "Outrageous Brownies") and made a cucumber salad to bring to my in-laws. I had my first QVC-Thanksgiving. My MIL purchased a roast from QVC. It was good, but different.

Friday, we were part of the shopping day. Sort of. Did a couple of items on-line for free shipping (Macy's) then off to lunch. Next was Target. It was crowded but not unruly. Michael and Jana stayed in the car so I could pick up a great deal on a Bakugan set for $10, sells for about $17-20 everywhere else. Score! There were 3 left even.

Next stop, Caribou for a BOGO of their gourmet chocolate drink. Again, no crowds and parking was hassle-free. Then to relax at home to be back out at 7pm. We dropped Michael off at a bar to hang with some of his family and Jana and I decided to try our hand at more shopping. The bar has a firm policy against folks under 18 entering.

Toys R Us, the store I said I'd never go to on Black Friday. But at 8pm on Friday, it was very calm. And to my surprise, I was told that if we found any Doorbuster sales, we could purchase at that price. We did really well and Jana was very helpful in picking out gifts. In return, I let her pick out a $5 reward (a Ben 10 keychain) that kept her pre-occupied while I threw in a couple of gifts for her. I'm still feeling slightly guilty for not having any cycles to throw her a 5th birthday party this year. Even though she got to have celebrations in CA and at Myrtle Beach.

9pm, I'm feeling lucky and ask Jana if we can try the mall. We were able to get lucky with the Doorbuster deals at Sears. I wanted a couple of small tool sets to keep in the motorcycle and didn't want to break up any of our socket sets. Plus super amazing deals at Old Navy.

We got a lot of holiday shopping done on Friday, amazing deals and very little hassle. So it meant being out late Friday and going in with no expectations.

Back to pick up Michael from the bar with a brief visit with his aunt and cousin (who's home from NYC for the holiday).
