MRI Results

My therapist had already reviewed my results before I arrived and then she went over them with me during my session.

I currently only have 1 herniated disc with nothing impeding the nerve root. This is a good thing and it matches my current symptoms. There's likelihood that I did have other disc issues but other than the one disc, the others are looking fine. My treatment seems to have helped nudge everything back.

Now, the vertebra near the herniated disc is an slightly odd shape, congenital. This is making a smaller than expected opening. And she thinks the pain I still feel is just my damaged nerve that is slowly healing. She said at the rate it's going, she'd guess 6-12 months to heal.

She also reminded me that my MRI was taken from one position, lying down. So what's happening when I sit or stand, we don't know. I can slowly and very moderately try some activities, but I have to be cautious about vibrations for my spine. Some biking, maybe, but on a smooth surface. Heh, anyone who's familiar with Pittsburgh roads and sidewalks knows that's not possible.

This has certainly been a learning experience for me and an eye-opener to how amazing the back is.
