I was clearly not fast enough for any pictures.
We stopped by the garden plot last night after dinner. I am only able to tie up tomato branches and harvest what I can. I did make the mistake of harvesting grape tomatoes before finishing up tying up tomatoes. My little helper wanted to "taste" one tomato, but I wanted them washed after I was done tying. Karen had stopped by on her way to her car and offered to wash the tomatoes for Jana. We filled a 10 oz cup. I told Jana she can "taste" any one except the cracked/split ones (we just had rain). By the time she came back from the faucet, only 2 split tomatoes remained! She had a big smile on her face, "Mom, those are GOOD tomatoes."
I took those last 2 home to try to save seeds. This plant looks incredibly prolific, if I had to guess, there's got to be at least a hundred green tomatoes on it, possibly close to 200.
It also looked like our critter friend came back to finish decimating the rest of my parsley. Karen helped gather some bricks laying around to cover up a hold dug under my fence. I hope to come back tonight with Michael to help weave and pound in some bamboo stakes. Apparently, a fellow gardener is upset that he saw a critter in my plot and thinks it's living underneath the deck. Sigh.
Michael is on-call this week and he was paged just before dinner so he couldn't join us last night. And when he's done with on-call, he's out of town again.
