Sciatica - Light Day at Work

Jul 03, 2008 18:50

I went in to the office today, 11:30-4.

It went well, but I think I'm going to ask my physician to endorse a temporary disabled person placard when I see her next week. Otherwise, it felt good to be back.

A physics professor caught me on the phone, it was an excellent and fun conversation. One of the things I like about working in higher ed is being around some pretty smart people and engaging in some clever conversation. One of my projects has brought me to interact with a good lot of the physics faculty. I was invited to be an agenda item in one of their weekly faculty meetings and I admit, I felt extremely insignificant sitting there. Anyway, this professor couldn't help himself but to analyze and offer suggestions as to how to narrow down the exact cause of my sciatica. He offered his scientific approach and his personal preference where the latter wasn't necessarily very scientific, which he fully admitted. ;)

I had a meeting with my director this afternoon, I really wanted to make since I haven't seen her in about 3.5 weeks. And then I filled in for another manager by participating in an interview. I wasn't sure if I would be able to last the 50 min in the interview and I did think it was awkward to have brought an ice pack to sit on. The candidate seemed to understand. :)

Anyway, in spite of the short day, I feel like it was really productive. And maybe because it seemed that the majority of folks took today off, it was easy to get some stuff done.

Now one thing I have to wonder... I forgot my prescription for 2pm, and instead, I took 3 Motrin. Is the Motrin more effective than the prescription? It's just the improvement I'm seeing this evening is leaps and bounds above than I've seen all week. Well, improvement is improvement. I'm looking forward to moving on to exercises.

I'm also looking forward to Michael and Jana coming home tomorrow.
