there isnt a single recorded case of a copper head ever killing anyone. they rarely bite, only invenomate under 60% of the time, and even then their venom isnt very potent. theyre among the most passive of poisonous snakes.

Additionally, it could have bitten a cat.

(Also, there have been deaths from copperhead bites, but very few; only one in North Carolina)

I find it funny that although an antivenom exists, it's rarely given because the antivenom has a higher rate of death (due to allergic reaction) than the bite itself.
