So Run Down

Jan 13, 2011 10:21

So this week is the first week back from vacation. My school week started on Tuesday. But I still feel so horribly run down. I'm not able to sleep at night. I can't fall asleep until past midnight, even if I'm lying in my bed trying. I thought maybe it had something to do with caffeine (I drink black tea with dinner...?) but I didn't drink any and it was the same. I'm tired, but I can't sleep. This morning I woke up and felt strangely refreshed, but now I feel run down again. Maybe it is just that I'm overwhelmed with everything that I have to do or something?
I had a job interview (in person) on Tuesday and I had a really good feeling about the school and the interview. Granted, it was the scariest interview I've ever done (getting tested on CELTA questions and singing as well?) and it was also pretty humbling when Laura told me all about my weaknesses, what I'd have to do if I wanted to be a good teacher, what I had to study, etc. I kept expecting her to say, "Well, this is what you want to work on in the future, so at this time we don't need you..." but it wasn't like that at all. It was, "Well, this is your weakness, here and here and here, and in the future you're going to have to keep this in mind. You'll also need to study and work on this and this. So, would you be interested in a second interview?" I was thinking that I wouldn't get a second interview! But I have it for next Thursday. And it's going to be a whole half of a day, and I'll teach a class, too. Kind of nervous, but more looking forward to it.
In other news, Professor Forrest is supposed to be coming on Friday, but because of the way that communication at UMASS almost always goes, neither Oga-sensei nor I have any idea what his plans are or when he's actually going to show up. -___- So we have to play it by ear. If he comes at all. Sigh. I would like to meet with him to talk about graduation stuff. I am sort of betting that he won't show because of weather or something. Ugh.
So I know that America seems to be hit with blizzard after blizzard. We've gotten, I'd say, twelve feet of snow in the past two weeks. We're probably going to get another foot or so today. The snowbanks at Ainosato are taller than me. I can't see over the snowbanks at the bus stop. I guess this is usual Sapporo winter. The volume of snow is kind of crazy, so I guess I know how you crazy cats over the 'mizuumi' feel.
Well, job interview tonight for selling chocolates. I expect to get turned away for being gaijin, but I am still going to try. I had better go and get ready. I have a long day a head of me yet. Miles to go before I sleep and all that. (I've been in a Robert Frost mood the past couple of days, haha.)

hue, interview, oga-sensei, job, snow
