Random thought: Sometime a few years postwar, Eibhlin and Rokia team up to make Panem's best model rockets. Option on an actual space program, but Beetee would probably say that's not an efficient use of resources.
They can even come up with very important excuses scientific justification for rocketry experiments. High-altitude measurements of atmospheric something-or-other-i-don't-care-enough-to-research-right-now, aerial photographs to survey for new construction (it's cheaper than hovercraft flyovers, okay?), the possibilities are endless.
And that's even before you consider the hilarity involved in sending, say, Ronan's toaster, on a suborbital trajectory ending in District 12. Beetee can build a missile guidance system so it lands on Haymitch's back porch. The geese are very confused.
(look, I don't think I ever claimed to make sense)
(lol that was not actually what I was thinking about, just the first random object that occurred to me, but did anyone else have the flying toasters screensaver?)
BWHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA THIS IS A THING THAT HAPPENS HEADCANON ACCEPTED
Did lorataprose tell you about the 'experiments' that Eibhlin starts running when Ronan falls asleep? Ronan is an expert at the D2 version of Go. Eibhlin loves learning new games, and gets a bit obsessive until she figures out all the strategies and methods of play. Unfortunately, Ronan isn't as young as he used to be, and sometimes falls asleep while they're playing. Normally socialized humans would excuse themselves and let Ronan sleep. Eibhlin has a tendency to wander about the house, 'improving' his appliances.

Nobody could ever mistake Victors for "normally socialized humans."
Also, Rokia thinks randomly improving appliances is an excellent use of spare time. And will provide welding assistance if necessary.
