Lol, I've completely neglected this website for months....
It's been a while since I've posted something ^-^ However, recently I've found myself falling into a sort of obsession when it comes to my anime watching habits, and realizing this so suddenly made me laugh, so I figured I'd share it.
I have a close friend who is utterly and completely a fujoshi (basically, the female equivalent of an otaku, but one that worships yaoi) and she turned me towards a few animes she said were good.
The first one was No. 6, the second Loveless, and the third Junjou Romantica.
Of course, as I should've expected earlier, all of these animes were either yaoi or shounen-ai (boy-love) animes.
I was open minded about her suggestions, and watched the animes of all three, and even indulged in a few shounen ai mangas she let me borrow. At first I was skeptical about them, but after about two weeks, I stared to notice a pattern in my life.
Come home from school, study, write, and watch BL anime for the rest of the night.
And it would repeat each. And. Every. Day.
Can you believe that I just now noticed this trend?
I, quite unintentionally, have found myself falling into the trap that is BL-shipping. It started with anime, and moved on to mangas and doujins, then fanfictions, and now...fanart? Luckily, the deviantART community has many, many groups that are any yaoi-shippers dreams. All of which I am now a member and watcher of.
So where has my obsession with boylove come from?
I can tell you now, I have no idea.
When it comes to the aspect of fanfictions, I find myself looking at men in the fandom I participate in differently. Now there are secret signs of 'love' popping up all over the place that I didn't seem to notice before. I've even been tempted to sit down and write a shounen-ai or yaoi piece of my own. The I day I found myself doodling a cute, semi-girly guy and (of course) a tall, muscular and serious man on my notes. There are male gender signs interlocking with hearts all over my sketchbook and, ironically, next to my classnotes on asexual and sexual reproduction.
....What?
I've sucessfully fallen into the trap.
And now that I've ranted about this surprising revelation in my life (albeit disturbing to those who think it so), I'll be off. There's a shounen-ai anime in the next tab over that calls for my attention.
