"we only touched elbows and I'll never forget it"
I met one of my favourite musicians last night!!
I was at Zanzibar for Ilse's birthday party and at a table near us I spotted Darren Hanlon! I watched him on and off for a while (got caught staring once or twice...oops) until I was sure it was him. And then I vowed to speak to him by the end of the night, because last time I had the chance of meeting a fave musician, I wussed out and regretted it later. (Dave McCormack at the gig for Fordie... I coulda said hello to him, but was too shy. Boo.)
After a while the upstairs bar was closing and we were all being ushered downstairs, so I knew I had to be brave and approach him. Fortunately, there was no escape. I had to walk past him to get out. I greeted him and shook his hand, and hopefully didn't sound like too much of a dork. I think I said something about how I had to come and say hello or else I'd regret it and that I love his music.
He smiled and was very sweet. He seemed genuinely touched and he thanked me and I can't really remember how the rest of the exchange went but I was very bouncy and happy afterwards. Yay! :)
