Thesis drafting

Jul 13, 2008 23:31

I spent most of this weekend working. (Well, apart from when I was dining and drinking mulled wine!)

Anyway, tonight I emailed off a nice-looking draft of my thesis to both supervisors!!!!! Yay!

Feels like a mega milestone, even though I know there will be lots more work when I get their feedback.

At the moment it looks like this:
71000+ words.
8 chapters.
200+ pages.

Most of today was writing the abstract. It's only around 400 words, but it was SO HARD. So difficult to condense 70 thousand words and 4 years of research into a tiny little summary - and have it be catchy and concise enough to grab the attention of potential examiners. Eep!

Sasha has been a huge help proof-reading and formatting the disparate chapter documents into one mega Word doc. Today was my crash course in how to use Word more effectively. Ha!

It now has a title page, a table of contents, subheadings all in the same style (omg!), and it all looks pretty and shiny and like a real thesis.

Phew. Getting there. :)
