Recently returned from upstate New York, where our first customer flipped the switch on the project I've been working on for about a year and a half now. It was more fun than stressful, to my surprise--we'd anticipated most of the major issues, and the only bug we identified was something I couldn't possibly have found in testing. I got hugs from three of the users when I left, including a department head, so I'm calling it a success.
I've been doing a surprising amount of both reading and writing, despite the amount of mental space that has taken up. I have several books going right now, including
Time and Fevers (
hedda62's latest) and some of the Guy Gavriel Kay I've had on my list for a while.
Fic-wise, recent developments in Person of Interest are making me want to dust off the WIP I have stalled at 11k, because--ack, spoilers. But that'll probably have to wait for the summer, because the morning after seeing Winter Soldier I woke up with a fic in my head, and it started coming together in the shower, as they do. I'd originally hoped to post it before this last work trip, and now I have Wiscon set as a mental deadline, but it's getting long.
Immensely grateful for last year's accidental discovery
orockthro and I live so nearby; aside from the convenience of having someone to rant to about Person of Interest, we can go to movies together without having to tone down the squee afterward, and we've got in the habit of mutually-productive writing dates. Huzzah for geographical coincidence!
