Oh, happy day.

After spending a frustrating day trying to figure out livejournal's css structure in what turned out to be a fruitless enterprise, I joined the other roommates in the living room for conversation.  The topics wandered around until we somehow came upon The Beatles' White Album, which Keith promptly retrieved from his collection and started playing.   We continued into further discussion of various music types and ended up realizing we had a lot of music interests in common (Sam and Nicole retired at some point during this).

So I end up sorting through my iTunes library with him playing things I think he'd like, he agrees with nearly all of it, and I send him a copy of my album list.  Today we resumed going through my library and I invited him to OiNK, then we swapped and I checked out his library, which is mostly retail purchased.  His ratio is going to be outstanding.

He organized his CDs in stacks by genre, from Outkast to Blur to John Cage, including a stack of Frank Zappa and a stack of Prince (he has 22 of the 26 commercial albums).  I've borrowed 15 CDs to start.  Now I have what amounts to a  personal CD lending library in the basement, and once I set up Keith's OiNK account, he found 500 unpublished Prince songs on bootlegs and several albums by a contemporary German composer of experimental classical.  We're both really excited.

So, I don't need music recommendations anymore, as I have Zappa, Genesis, Kate Bush, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Peter Gabriel, Captain Beefheart, Gentle Giant, Roxy Music, and Prince to get through. HOORAY.
