Another hot date

Another hot date with my office PC computer, Entropy. I'm definitely ready for graduate school to be over. Hopefully I'll be out of here by 11 PM tonight!

I've decided that I need another goal in order keep myself in shape. Last weekend, after some pressure from other graduate students (i.e., one person told me they were going to do it again), I've decided to run the Krispy Kreme Challenge again. Last week The Technician, NC State's newspaper, decided to republish my awful photo from last year's race. I had a multitude of people from my department come up to me again and say they could not recognize me from the photo unless they read the caption.

Last year I was able to complete the task in 48 minutes without puking, which is no small feat. I told myself in 2007 that after the race, I would never eat another Krispy Kreme doughnut again. In fact, the small of their doughnuts make me nauseous. I have kept that promise until now - I guess eating another dozen doughnuts wouldn't kill me, and this time I'm guaranteed not to do it again.

The race rules again are:

(1) run 2 miles from the NCSU Belltower to the Krispy Kreme store on the corner of Peace and Person St.,

(2) eat a dozen doughnuts,

(3) run 2 miles back to the NCSU belltower, and
(4) do all of this under an hour.(click on the photo for a bigger image; warning: it is a large image)

In other sporting news events, I have decided almost entirely to give up on triathlons. I hate swimming. So, in lieu of triathlons, I am going to pick up duathlons. There is one in Winston-Salem in mid-February, which I am considering. People from NC, I may need some ideas on where to stay / eat in the area. More to come.
