Autism

Today was my first day working for Altru Drama at an after school club. It went really well, it was really fun. The school was brilliant, the children were all very polite and well behaved. They all loved it. After finishing work I went into Chicago Rock to say a quick hello to Emma and she gave me a drink. We had a quick natter, then I came home to my mum's. We were supposed to be going to visit my nan, but she went into hospital today for some more tests, but collapsed while there so she's back home and asleep now so I won't see her until tomorrow. She wont get the results until next week, but it's now feared that the cancer is also in her neck.

Yesterday I was working for the Arts Service at a drama group. That was really fun too. I had a couple of the kids asking me if I was gay (oops!), but it was quite a funny situation to be in. Daryl came round last night. I hadn't seen him since Saturday but it felt like I hadn't seen him for ages. He'll be coming round again tonight.

My lecture in uni was an interesting one yesterday. It was about Special Educational Needs, and a guy with autism came in to talk to us about the condition. He asked for two volunteers, but no one volunteered, so he chose two people himself. Yep... me and Sean! We had to go to the front of the lecture and he tried to make us look like prats. He didn't realise that it takes a LOT to embarrass me though, I didn't mind and was playing to the audience. Sean's face went a lovely shade of purple though. He had everyone singing Baa Baa Black Sheep out of sync, wanted me to spin around as fast as I could. Then when signaled for me to walk in a straight line with Sean dangling from my neck. Apparently this was to demonstrate what it feels like for an autistic child to go through a meltdown. It was certainly an experience.
