Jersey Boys:
Loved this. Went to see it a few weeks ago with Mum, Nan and Pop, and Erica (a family friend), at the Theatre Royal. And there's a long drawn-out story about the antics of getting in there, but I won't go into that because it will take too long. So talking about the show instead. It was brilliant. I've never really known much about the story behind Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, which is the story this musical tells, so it was really interesting. Plus it had all the old Four Seasons songs I love in it, so it was a win-win. :D
Hairspray:
Oh. My. God.
This show was So. Fucking. Amazing. It completely blew me away.
I went a couple of weeks ago (exactly one week after Jersey Boys actually, lol) with Mum and Michaela. And I really have no words for how spectacular it was. I was in love with it from beginning to end. One of the very best productions I've ever seen (and I've been to a lot of musicals over the years). Just... love love love.
And a couple of others that I saw back in April and May, but never got around to posting about. :)
Rockwiz:
Rockwiz is a music quiz show on SBS, it's one of my favourite shows. And early this year they did a tour around the country, doing live shows. So my best friend Michaela got me a ticket for my birthday. :D It was so much fun, and hilarious as always. Julia Zemira (the host) always cracks me up. Such a brilliant night at the Enmore Theatre.
Mary Poppins:
Went to go see this with Mum at the start of May. It was unbelievably fantastic. One of the best musicals I've ever seen. The dancers, and the lighting, and the sets, and just everything was amazing. Matt Lee (who played Bert) was brilliant! He completely makes the role his own. :D There's one part, during the routine for "Step In Time" when he taps his way up one side of the stage, ends up hanging upside down in the centre of the stage, and does part of his tap dance upside down at the top of the stage. Un-freaking-believable. I loved the whole thing So. Much. Me and Mum are still gushing about it now, lol.
Much Ado About Nothing:
I was so excited to see this with Michaela back in May. Much Ado About Nothing is my favourite play, so I was super excited when I heard that the Bell Shakespeare Company were doing a production of it. I knew that I had to see it. And I was not disappointed. Everything about it was perfect - especially the actors. Toby Schmitz was an amazing Benedick. Unfortunately, we saw it on the last night that it was being performed in Sydney, so I couldn't rush back the next night to see it again, lol.
