hmmm! that is a tough one....i definitely agree with your statement: Love is too fragile to be spoiled by feeding too much time into it.

time and distance do make the heart grow fonder....helps you realize how you really feel about someone....it is good to have time to yourself even though our society does everything to prevent that....

.....i think love for family is very different than 'romantic' love.....i think romantic love can turn into what is considered a familial type of love - something more compassionate, enduring, non-judgemental, accepting......but it takes a lifetime to get there....and a whole lot of patience...most romantic love is not like that today...RL is jane austen and jerry maguire....and familial love is knowing sometimes you need to have separate bedrooms and the fine art of compromise...that things aren't wine and roses and making up after a fight....it is sometimes not speaking for days and truly hating the site of someone.....familial love is a ferris wheel gone off its tracks....up and down and all around....romantic love maybe lasts two months - two years or whenever the newness wheres off and/or after you move in with that person and fight about who does the dishes and folds the laundry..the honeymoon phase as it is commonly called

just my two cents....
