I am taking a painfully difficult class called Proofs and Verifications that will never be used by anyone sane out in the industry. Only my nauseous professor with a serious speech defect and numerous complexes for his lack of actual work experience outside of academics could make this class such an agonizing experience. A simple program of 2 lines for a CGD algorithm is turned into several pages of monotonous proofs. Predicates, inductive assumptions, wfs, and many other cuss words are shot from his dirty mouth like bullets. All students have a panicky confused expression, and turn to one immense concentration on his lectures in hopes of catching and interpreting at least one word. Surprisingly, some are successful however not me. He was, is, and will be Greek to me (He is actually from Greece). Since Tanya is 1) a mathematician, 2) has taken this class and 3) a kind soul, I have decided to appoint her as my tutor/translator as my test is this Thursday. Today I went to see her and besides getting some studies done, also listened to more of her hilarious stories. Basically her father has declared his objections to her lifestyle particularly to her lack of children and husband at 31 years of age. He went on for a long time about how Tanya and I (surprisingly) going to end up old maids who on Saturdays rent a blockbuster and drink tea in the kitchen until 2am (and that’s exactly what we do ). He complained that he would not have anyone to leave the inheritance to. By inheritance I presume he meant their cat because they hardly have any money for present. Tatiana is a tempered person so it did not take her long to answer him back: 1) we are not under a thread of dying as old maids, too late for that 2) the best candidates out there cannot coherently put two words together and their best greeting is ‘Watsup man!’ and 3) she advised him to ask his overly sexually active son to produce the future cat inheritants. Listening to her was very funny. I am still smiling. Well.. better get back to work.
