Lovely and bittersweet. I really like fics set in this era between them and seeing the different ways authors explore their individual coping mechanisms. I love the little bit of hope offered at the end. Well done!

I really like the realistic way you carry over RE5 here - Chris's fingers are broken from all that boulder-punching and Jill's body is still trained in a way that's foreign to Chris. You have a great, convincing level of detail here: The way she kept sitting, constantly with only one foot on the ground: it was the position of someone ready to move at a moment’s notice.

I think you have Jill very IC, too. I think of Jill as very no-nonsense and greater-good (as seen when she tells Chris to leave her and go after Wesker, no tears involved), and you show how that contributes to her coping mechanisms. It extends to her relationship with Chris, though, too. Their little piece of contact at the end shows that, while Jill might not want to talk about it, she still takes comfort in Chris's being there.

The fact that it ends like RE1 - back to partners - makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

pimples are really annoying, you can kill them using benzoyl peroxide but it will also make your skin red.
