Books to read:
The Apophenion - Peter J Carroll (already part-way through)
Small Gods - Terry Pratchett
The Illuminatus! Trilogy - Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson
I, Robot - Isaac Asimov
The Salmon of Doubt - Douglas Adams
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - J. K. Rowling (maybe)
Love in the Time of Cholera - Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Inside Straight - George R. R. Martin (already part-way through)
I finished Inside Straight, not opened any of the others.
Make more food to take to campus rather than buying it at Spar. I can make sandwiches cheaper myself after all.
I do make my own sandwiches the odd time, and have attempted to make my own bread. But I still spend too much money at Spar on campus. :(
Get my 3rd year of NCB for my car insurance.
I'm on track for that in a few months.
Sell a car.
Done, though was perhaps a bit soft and didn't get as much as I could have.
Attempt to decrease the overall volume of "stuff" that I own, making more use of freegle, ebay, etc.
Slight success, but need to work harder.
Keep LibraryThing and my DVD/anime list up to date.
Mostly up to date, maybe a dozen or so discs I need to add. My media list is currently in a spreadsheet and I was toying with the idea of a relational database... but that's perhaps too much of me avoiding actual work.
Catch up on PCP, that will mean reading some every month without fail.
Epic fail.
Build up some savings.
Slightly done, but not enough. I need to ponder a part-time job around Christmas I think, or somehow get an extension on my academic funding.
Get my name on the authors list of at least 2 peer-reviewed scientific paper, one of which I should be 1st author.
I've submitted a paper on which I'm first author, it's still under review. I also have plans for two further papers in collaboration with other universities. So that's quite promising. :)
Be more confident giving talks.
I've given two more talks, they went okay ish I think.
Buy more chicken from more "ethically acceptable" sources, i.e. free range chicken breasts rather than generic cheap chicken nuggets.
Mostly done... if I ignore the lure of KFC.
Buy more local things from farms, like eggs, maybe milk too.
I usually buy eggs and milk from a nearby farm though, and am pondering getting vegetables more often from a green grocer than supermarkets.
Loose some weight - let's say 5kg.
Hahaha. Too many chips.
Try to have less feeble arms.
I suck.
Update my CV, have other people check it over and make a decent attempt at job hunting.
Not done at all, but will become more urgent in the coming months I think.
Re-affirm/re-establish council of three.
Bit of a failure so far.
Go on IRC more often, but also cut down a bit on "Web 2.0" social network malarky.
Failed at the first, kinda cut down on Facebook use though.
