I'm not going to claim that it makes much of any sense, or that they're canon or ~true love~ or any other delusional bullcrap. I started shipping them just because I find their arguments entertaining.
I think it's adorable that they go out of their way to get each other riled up a lot of the time. I think the nicknames are some of the most immature things I've ever heard come out of teenagers' mouths.
It's my favorite Reborn ship because, as much as I love it when I actually find sex written for them, with how rare it is, I could go the rest of my life reading completely platonic relations between them without complaining. They're morons, and it's funny, especially when your sense of humor is as bad as mine is. It's enjoyable to watch them scream at each other like kids half their age, especially with all their pride.
I think that, though they won't, if they actually got together they would work terribly as a relationship for the first few months (pretty much the same point in time a normal couple would be going through their "honeymoon stage," laughably enough), after which they would slide into a sort of grudging fondness and a few subconscious habits of courtesy for one another.
I also think that I'm ranting.
