That was where she first met Sam. He slouched into the room and slumped into the chair at the very back during their first outreach session. By the end, he was gone.
After several more sessions, he hung back and offered to help her put up chairs.
Within a month, he told her about premonitions that he'd been having. She could see his inner turmoil. He didn't want to tell his girlfriend about his visions. Lord knows she'd been there, with Jimmy.
She didn't see the harm in using his tips to help people herself, though. She never expected him to knock on her door and ask her to go with his brother to look for their father. It seemed wrong to her, somehow, that she should do this while he stayed in Palo Alto with his girlfriend. Not to mention that Dean was about as prickly toward her as a cactus.
Days later, when Sam pulled Jessica from a burning building, she understood a little better. And when Jessica left, declaring that things had gotten too weird for her -- God knew Chloe sympatized with Sam.
She didn't expect him to ask her to hit the road with the two of them.
Now, looking back. She's glad she did.
