When Bobby opened his door, he wasn't surprised to see Sam and Dean standing there.
Over the past few weeks, his contacts had been strangely quiet concerning the boys actual activities. But the rumor mill was rife with speculation. Word through the grapevine was that they'd found something ancient and evil to hunt.
Which meant that they'd show up sooner or later, needing help. And sure enough, here they were.
Bobby let them in and passed them the holy watered down beer. Once the niceties were out of the way, they got down to business.
"We're hunting bad fiction," Sam explained.
"Thought you might be," Bobby nodded. He knew just what the boys needed. He didn't stand on ceremony, so he didn't bother with the showmanship when he crossed the room, opened a closet and pulled a box from the top shelf.
Sam and Dean looked at each other in confusion, the speculation gleaming in their eyes as they opened the box.
"It looks like the Colt," Dean said.
"That there is a prototype that your Dad and me made back when we were thinking of hunting bad fiction ourselves," Bobby said. "Of course, that was back before we realized that hunting bad fiction was a young man's game." He shook his head. "Give me a rawhead any day."
"What is it?" Sam asked as he touched it gingerly.
We call it the Canonizer."
"The Canonizer?" Dean looked at him in confusion.
"There an echo in here, boy?" Bobby said gruffly. "You point that thing at any piece of fiction, and it'll force it to conform to Canon. Just be careful where you aim it."
Sam nodded as the light of knowledge dawned in his eyes. "It'll work on good fiction too. So if I pointed it at Dean,"
Dean automatically hit the floor. "Damnit Sam!" He said. "Don't point it at me!"
"Basically," Bobby said.
"Awesome!" Sam grinned. "Dean, we need to get out of here and try this!"
Dean nodded. Then he looked at Bobby apologetically. "Sorry we can't stay, Bobby. But . . ."
"I know," Bobby nodded. "You boys got work to do."
