This will probably be the last of these little videos I'll do. So let's go through the shows.
Johnny Quest: Probably my favorite cartoon intro from the 60s. When I was a kid and saw this opening, I knew shit was gonna' go down.
The Herculoids:
wigglytype is right, everything does explode on The Herculoids
Moby Dick and the Mighty Mightor: Holy crap! Did Moby Dick just kamikaze himself?! Also I like the idea of a caveman superhero who ISN'T Captain Caveman.
Birdman: I always like Space Ghost better.
Space Ghost: Oh, speak of the devil. I blame my Mom for any knowledge I have of the original Space Ghost cartoon, because she thought that it was the shit growing up and made sure I watched it (and the Herculoids) and chance I got.
Frankenstein Jr. and The Impossibles: For having top billing in the show's name, Frankenstein Jr. does even get introduced in the show, it entirely focusses on The Impossibles. Which is fine, because The Impossibles rule!
The Fantastic Four: Considering the limitations of HB television animation in the 60s, this show was actually a pretty damn good effort on their part.
Batman with Robin The Boy Wonder: This WAS NOT a good effort in any stretch of the imagination. I like how Batman's head seems to be able to swallow Robin whole.
Superman: Early Filmation DC cartoons were pretty bad... but they were a hellova lot better than the early non Spidey or FF Marvel cartoons. Those were animation in the LOOSEST sense of the word.
Superboy: Boy? He's freaking huge?! I think that's even the same model as Superman! What the hell, Filmation!
The Flash: Next to Batman he's my favorite DC superhero. That's all I really have to say here... other than I always wondered how he got that costume back into the ring. :p
Green Lantern: Suck it, Hal Gordon! Kyle Rayner all the way! Yeah, I know, that has nothing to do with the cartoon (seeing as Kyle wasn't even created then), I'm just bitter.
Hawkman: Man, Filmation must've been taking that DC license for all it's worth.
Spider-Man: This show is fun as hell to watch, but it makes no god damn sense half the time. Seriously, you'll see Spidey make everything from keys to razor blades out of his webbing here. That and the show would sometimes try to animate itself cartoon despite being serious. Hilarious.
The Hulk: Holy crap, that's one happy ass song for talking about Bruce Banner getting radiation poisoning.
The Mighty Thor: Rainbows! GAY! Also this and the Hulk cartoon animated in the loosest sense of the word.
The Mighty Heroes: Probably my favorite work of Ralph Bakshi ever... which means it's pretty much the only work of his I like... well outside the old Spidey cartoon. I'm sure some animation fan is going to pitch a fit over that statement...
Super Chicken: My absolute favorite Jay Ward cartoon, granted I love everything Jay Ward does, but this is still my fave.
George of the Jungle: Awesome show. Great writing and hilarious wordplay. Also animated better than Rocky and Bullwinkle (not that that says much).
Tom Slick: Another marvel of Jay Ward's cartoon crafting abilities. I pity Rocky and Bullwinkle started airing in the 50s, I'd have loved to have it in this video. Oh well.
Speed Racer: OH! Damn man, I know Speed knocked that car off the course, but how the hell did he launch it 50 feet in the air! Damn, that's some hardcore racing.
Wacky Races: Introduction of my favorite Hanna Barbara characters, Dick Dastardly and Muttley for the win!
The Perils of Penelope Pitstop: I'm not sure what the best part of this show is. Penelope's "ho-hum" attitude towards the attempts on her life, or the fact The Hooded Claw is played by Paul Lynde. I'm leaning towards the latter. Circle gets the square!
Dastardly and Muttley and Their Flying Machines: Dick Dastardly and Muttley as enemy soldiers during the World War. Awesome! Nonsensical, but awesome! Also has one hell of a catchy them song.
The Flintstones: I still enjoy watching this show. Though I'd have to say the pre-Pebbles Honey Mooners rip early episodes were the best. Fred was such a freakin' abusive jerk then.
The Jetsons: I never really liked the Jetsons, but I loved the world they lived in. The weird retro future HB designs this show had were amazing. I want to live in THAT future!
Gigantor: The space age robot, has a goofy song! I'm glad I wasn't on that plane Gigantor randomly blows up.
Tobor the 8th Man: When I was a real little kid I thought this was called Tobor the Ape Man, and was always confused by it.
Astro Boy: Holy Crap! Did Astro Boy attack the Klan in this opening?!
Kimba the White Lion: Kimba makes weird sounds when he jumps.
Top Cat: Another one of my many favorite HB cartoons. Top Cat is definitely one of HB's wittier characters.
Wally Gator: I wonder what would happen if he met Steve Irwin... or zombie Steve Irwin.
Peter Potamus: HIPPO HURRICANE HOLLER!!!
Cattanooga Cats: The support cartoons on this show look like typical Hanna Barbara cartoons, however the Cattanooga Cats themselves definitely don't. In fact they look oddly like something I'd see Craig McCracken draw. Wonder if that was part of his inspiration.
The Archie Show: Check out Veronica in the second character introduction. She's raising the roof!
Scooby-Doo Where Are You?: Probably the best possible show I could end this video on. Also my favorite version of the show, too. What more can I say about television's longest running cartoon character other than "ZOINKS!"
