That Sure Ain't Final Fantasy Hey, everyone. Sorry for the lack of an update on Tuesday, I ended up getting home too late from SoniCon combined with just being plain out exhausted these last several days was the cause of that. I beg for your forgiveness. In fact, here's a picture of Toroko, Sue, and Quote I randomly doodled at the con. Take it as my apology for being late.
Now that that's out of the way, let's talk about
SoniCon, shall we? SoniCon was kind of a failure as a convention. Barely anyone came, most the guests either cancelled or got cancelled, and it ended up being so dead that most the dealers packed up and left midway through the second day. It was kind of sad really.
Did that mean I regret going to the con? Oh hell no. Despite all the problems, I still had a blast and managed to turn a profit. Pretty awesome if I do say so myself. I also got to hang up with some awesome people like my friends Doc and Amy,
Leroy,
Cary,
Aphex, and
Pam. Which also included a hilarious session of Devan, Nick, Pam, and I randomly littering anything we said with
PINGAS! I think this could of been related to the fact that everyone at the con got unlimited free
Nos for the first couple of days. Nos is surprisingly tasty for an energy drink, but didn't help my pissed off kidneys any. They also had an arcade that had a bunch of old school arcade games on free play, and you know how much I love classic arcade games... wait, you don't? Well, I love them... A LOT!
Though the awesomest part by far was the voice actors there.
Jason Griffith,
Lisa Ortiz,
Mike Pollock, and
Pete Capella were all guests there and were nice enough to stay despite the turn out. I never actually saw Pete Capella, but I was told he had just walked by before I made a "
Silver the Shithog" comment. Oops. I did however get to briefly meet Jason Griffith, Lisa Ortiz, and Mike Pollock, which was awesome. It was brief mainly because I'm shy and have a hard time talking to people I don't know, especially if I respect them. However I did get a couple of the Sonic fanart prints I did at the con signed by Mr. Griffith and Mrs. Ortiz which was awesome. Made cooler by the fact they asked for their own copies of the fanart that they were signing. That made me feel like a million bucks (and I signed it for them, of course). On the last day I drew a signed doodle of Sonic, Amy, and Dr. Eggman for each of the voice actors that I met at the con. It was a blast. I'm totally going to frame and hang up the version of
this print with Griffith and Ortiz's signature in my room.
With that said, SoniCon was a blast for me, even if it was an amazingly low turn out. I did so well, I think I'll give myself a
prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrromotion.
