slept in half hour this morning. got to rush around like madwoman, drove to school in attempt to break cycle of lateness for whole day. seems to be working. am hopeful.
yesterday i locked myself out of the house again, for the second time in two months. it was nice, actually. exactly what i needed. had been operating on too many cylinders the past week or so, trying to get things done and work against own grain by not being late for things and scheduling carefully and getting stuff done in timely manner, then missed study group (would have gotten there on time otherwise. have been doing bad job of contributing in study group. is bad. was going to fix.) by locking self out of house. instead got to meet downstairs neighbor's girlfriend, learned both their names again, and nice girlfriend took me to landlord's terribly cute and interesting cottage junk store. had never seen. is cute. plan to go christmas shopping there. found landlord, he left work, let me back in. got to tell about roommate exchange and he told me he wasn't sure what he thought about the downstairs guy letting his gf live there, as landlord rented to just the guy, and is paying utility bills. hadn't planned for another person being there.
was glad to verify girlfriend status of girl downstairs, as cannot possibly be older than me, and he is fully no younger than my dad. was puzzled. but now understand. still think are skeevy. but are nice too. actually like. nice skeevy neighbors.
new roommate, M, came by last night to see place. is nice. like muchly. geekier than anyone else have met thus far here. still doesn't hold candle to most of you, but is comforting up here in Yuppietown.
also called K last night. apparently had just gotten back from NC yesterday. was so relieved to hear his voice. sounds just like himself. tired, obviously, but still him. said the whole time he was in iraq, he wasn't in direct fire, didn't fire a gun the whole time, had funny stories about old guy there who'd been in vietnam too. talked for like an hour. good to have him back.
