Chatzy MBTI Graphs for Cam and other INTPs :)

Oct 05, 2018 18:09

Here are some graphs for the info in the previous post. I'll repost some of the info to make this a stand alone post.

I put up a poll in chatzy because I was curious about MBTI personality types, and I collated the results. 33 people responded. If they were split between two different types, I counted them as half a person for for each. I expected there to be some difference between chatzy and the general population (specifically that we'd be significantly more introverted) and wanted to see if this was so.

(Forgive the crappy table formats. LJ is not my friend.)

Here are the percentages for MBTI type. The most common types in the general population are on the left.

(Specific numbers of respondents can be found in the previous post.)

Yes, chatzy has a much higher frequency of the rarer types.

So then I wondered: what specifically is the difference between a group of writers and artists meeting online and the general population? So I looked at the different pairs of letters that make up the types: E/I, N/S, F/T, J/P.

I assumed that of course we would be more introverted than the general population (though the general population had more introverts than I expected). We're all hanging out online, which implies a certain amount of introverted preference, I would think. (There are lots of reasons, but I don't want to spend time on them now.)

The interesting difference, to me, is the difference in the N/S preference. I didn't expect it to be quite so extreme. It makes sense, since chatzy attracts writers and artists, and intuition is an ingredient in creativity (I read that in a book today, so I'll go with it. I feel like I need to cite sources for everything even though this is just me having a moment of fun!)

The other two preferences (Feeling vs. Thinking, Judging vs. Perceiving) weren't that different from the general population. Since we're mostly female, I'm not surprised that the Feeling is higher. Even if someone is a Thinker, they can mistype as a Feeler because of the expectation of society.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a breakdown according to the four Kiersey temperaments. See here for more info on the temperaments:

In chatzy, we are a majority Idealists, followed by Thinkers. Those two are 88% of chatzy as compared to 26.5% of the general population.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of the biggest differences I can see is in the percent of intuitive introverts (INxx). I then wanted to explore the relationship of just the first two letters, so INxx, ISxx, ENxx, ESxx, and compare:

Here is the same info as a line graph:

ESxx

ISxx

ENxx

I was looking for some sort of inverse relationship between chatzy and the general public, and the last graph was the best I could find. Chatzy is the haven for those who are INxx. Only 7% of the regular population is an intuitive introvert. In chatzy those four personality types (INTJ, INFJ, INTP, INFP) make up 71% of the respondents.

And that is the end of my completely non-scientific, just-for-fun nerd moment.

statistics, personality theory, chatzy, thinking, psychology, mbti, probably a completely incorrect analysis, numbers
