My Life as a Dork: Part 862

Apr 25, 2006 16:30

As I was getting ready this morning, I heard Diane Sawyer talking about a tornado in Oklahoma City. Being the weather dork that I am, I got all excited and had to watch. As a bonus, it turned out that this tornado was aticyclonic, meaning that it spun clockwise instead of counter-clockwise. According to the National Severe Storms Lab, there hasn't been a documented anticyclonic tornado since 1998. It's a BIG DEAL.

So what does Diane Sawyer do? Ask asinine questions like "So what was it like having a bird's eye view a tornado? Were you scared? I would've been scared" The two chasers that were on (who had been chasing for the better part of 20 years) gave each other a "WTF?" look and answered "um...it's like...any other tornado we've seen, just higher up. And, um...we've seen a lot of tornadoes, so it wasn't any different than the hundreds of tornadoes we've seen."

You couldn't ask why it's a big deal. You couldn't ask if they have figured out how an anticyclonic tornado forms (last time I checked, they hadn't). You couldn't ask anything interesting.

*facepalm*
