As I look back at the, what, four posts so far this year, I see all my January hopes, my late May broken foot low point (long story: turned out not to be broken after all, and my podiatrist is a moron, but we're way past that in medical tales), and one would hope I would have sprung back from all that

Life does include periods of waiting. The reasons we have to wait may vary, and may oft be beyond our control, but when they happen that waiting can be hard. Really hard. Periods of waiting can bring all manner of challenges to our mind and spirit. But we don't have to face those times alone. I'll be praying that you find what you need most to connect with during this ongoing time of waiting.
Baby steps are important. At times, baby steps can be monumental. They are definitely better than no steps at all. And while I believe that writing includes a certain amount of inspiration and talent, it's an awful lot of habit too. And the habit part - like so many of the "skills" we develop - can dissipate far too quickly when it's not being used as regularly as we did at some previous point. I also believe those baby steps can help bring it back. Sometimes the habit part gels into place quickly. Sometimes it doesn't. But habit can bring progress. And, when the time is right, I believe it brings back the inspiration too.
