Tomorrow (quite possibly all day and all night) I expect to be engaged in the FINAL DISSERTATION PUSH, which is very exciting but not terribly conducive to LJ posting. Plus, today's meme topic has basically the same answer as yesterday's and tomorrow's is completely obvious, so have two days of the TV meme for the price of one:
Day 03 - Your favorite new show (aired this TV season)
I have watched almost no new shows this season. I watched about two episodes of Glee before giving up on it (show tunes=fun; misogyny=not fun), and I'm half-heartedly watching V. Does this mean I'm forced to call V my favorite new show of the season?
If I can cheat with a new-to-me-this-season show, then once again, V gets beaten out by Lie to Me, for all the reasons I indicated yesterday.
Day 04 - Your favorite show ever
Heh. If you don't know the answer to this one, you haven't been around these parts long! I don't talk about it all the time, and I'm no longer actively fannish about it (in the sense of reading and writing fic and meta, though I'll enthusiastically puppy pile a newbie at a moment's notice), but there's still no hesitation in my answer: FARSCAPE, FARSCAPE, FARSCAPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've loved a lot of stories, told on television and otherwise, but god, this one is special. I fell SO HARD for Farscape, pretty much instantly, and I've rewatched it more than I have anything else, and it's just...my love for Farscape is of an entirely different quality than my love for any other show. It's smart and messy and gorgeous and cracktastic and gutwrenchingly heartbreaking and true in a way that nothing else I've ever seen is. It somehow manages to be about giant themes like love and home and family without being ironic or melodramatic.
It doesn't work--or work this way--for everyone: I know people for whom Farscape just isn't their thing, and I know people who liked it lots and lots but not in the flaily, emotional, "I will never love anything else like this" kind of way. But there are a surprising number of the "I will never love anything else like this" folks out there. More, I think, at least percentage-wise, than for a lot of other shows. This one is special.
And now it's back to work. When I come back on Wednesday, it should (I hope, I hope, I hope!!!!) be with very exciting news!
