The stop presses announcement for today is the following: MY NEIGHBOURS HAVE FLOWERS IN THEIR YARD, OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brand-new little snowdrops, but they still TOTALLY COUNT. Also, the maple tree in our yard has little budlets!!!!!!!!!! IT MIGHT ACTUALLY BE SPRING SOMETIME SOONISH!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, the weather has been entirely lovely for the past week or so, if still a bit chilly. But there has been SUN and then MORE SUN, and it's been ABOVE FREEZING, and, well, these things are important to me.

gabolange has come and gone, and it was, as ever, an completely fantastic visit. We walked all over the place, and went climbing, and went to the newly-renovated and utterly gorgeous Art Gallery of Ontario, and ate a lot of excellent food, and played the Wii, and laughed a lot, and talked mostly nonstop. People have been making lots of posts reflecting on the impending end of BSG, and I may end up doing the same at some point. But among everything else this show and fandom has brought across my path, I will always love it best for an excellent fic that inspired a comment that inspired a conversation (the first of countless) that led to the best friendship I've ever had.

On the subject of BSG, I don't really have the headspace right now to think about what it means to me that it's ending. And I doubt I'll do much better tomorrow. I suppose the main thing for me, at least at the moment, is to note that it wasn't my first fandom and it won't be my last, and neither is it my One True Show. But that I've loved it very much nonetheless--perhaps a little too much for my own good--and while I think it is ending at the right time, it still makes me a little wibbly to think of it ending.

Also on the BSG front, have a vid rec. obsessive24 has made a completely spellbinding vid about the people of the fleet. Slow Down Gandhi, spoilers through 4.14 "Blood on the Scales". A beautiful and hard portrayal of some of the stories I don't think the show itself has done a terribly good job of telling.

And now there are papers to grade and a summer course to plan, and the little mini-vacation is most definitely over.

ETA: Naturally, I forgot one of the main purposes of this post: Happy Birthday to the wonderful abyssinia4077!!!!!!!!!! I hope it's a splendid one, my dear!
