How wonderfully sad--I really do like the perspective in this, the missed and mixed signals throughout, and I like how Dee's perspective is the one carrying it through to the end. A great look at her and her relationships with the other characters.

Thank you! And I'm so glad the perspective experimentation worked for you; I felt a little like pulling my hair out over all that! ;)

I simply love this, Dee is such a forgotten character on the show these days, it's good to be reminded of the impact she's had on these characters in the early years and yay! for references to Billy, though they made me tear up too, great job!

Thanks so much!

I love Dee, and I very much hope that she gets more to do in the second half of season 4 than she did in the first half. But hers is always a quiet impact.

This works beautifully - the alternating POV's is really what made this powerful for me. Both caught by their titles and positions and unable to really connect with one another, even though their fears and desires are so similar.

Beautifully done!

Thank you! And I'm particularly glad the pov experiments worked for you; that sense of not-quite-connection, despite all that they share, was exactly what I was going for, so I'm thrilled that it came through.

she is, after all, the only surviving XO of the Pegasus
Ooh, good point. No one probably wanted that job. And, no one else might have survived it. Dee is a survivor. I had forgotten that. Whether on shiny new battlestars, Centurion-occupided corridors, or in the dust under fire, she's made it.

Dee is so quiet and still in this. Even though we are in her head. Her observations are keen, and there is this:
If asked, Dee would say she has few regrets. This would surprise people to know, but they do not ask. They do not ask. Dee reminds me of so many characters beyond the top ten, who so close and integral to the shows important events, so close and we know little about them. Dee, Hoshi, Felix, Racetrack. And no one ever asks them what they want, who they are now ( ... )

Thank you, hon!

I did something of a double-take when Battlestar Wiki reminded me of Dee's stint as Pegasus XO. I'd forgotten about that, too. She doesn't draw attention to what she's done, though; she does her job and does it well and survives, like you say. *loves her*

I found myself wanting very much to know what Laura Roslin was thinking, yet was glad to get only a glimpse of too. That felt right.

Oh good! I'm glad this worked. Because this is Dee's story, yet Laura's thoughts and feelings needed to be there, as well, just a little bit, and my biggest hurdle was trying to figure out how to make that happen.

Again, thank you so much!

Yay! It got done! And of course it is absolutely lovely.

I am especially fond of the way you worked through Dee's wanting to ask Laura about Lee and Bill. It ties the characters together quite nicely. :)

Yay! It did get done. I mean, I probably could have continued poking at it for days, but I got to a point where I was satisfied enough, so it is done. And I'm glad you approve!

At some point when you're done with washing machines, can we talk about non-limited omniscient narrators? ;)

Of course I approve!

We can absolutely talk about non-limited omniscient narrators when I'm done with washing machines. I was actually thinking about sending you an email about your use of the narrator here and the jump from Dee to Laura, because I noticed it and I can't quite decide how I feel about it. I agree that we needed to see Laura's thoughts to make the story work, but I have thoughts on structure and flow. Because that's what I do!

And non-limited omniscient narrators also sound much more fun than washing machines! *hugs*
