Well, you already know what I think of this, but I'll tell you again: awesome job! I continue to love your writing and the way you think about these scenes. :-)
As for the way I thought of the scene, which I can explain now that you've posted, I think I saw it as angrier and harder than you did; the version in my head was less conciliatory but, I think, ended in exactly the same place.
Thank you! And thanks again for the beta--as I said, it's always so helpful to have a second set of eyes, particularly when it's a set of eyes whose judgment you trust. :)
This was originally much angrier. But when I re-watched the episode, I was struck by the fact that this all happened the same day, and god, how tired must they have been at the end of it! And once I started trying to factor in the exhaustion, especially taking into consideration possibilities for what happened after the end of the episode...well, the fight left them, somewhat. If I'd let them sleep first, they definitely would have been angrier.
And I think Keats had a good thing going with "negative capability"--the ability to hold contradictory ideas in your head at the same time without really coming down in favor of one or the other--so even having written this, I find it no more likely than any number of other possibilities.
I'm always more than happy to beta for you, and I'm glad you trust my judgment! I signed up for the A/R Month of Love, which is in July, and may just send you my fic for that, whenever it gets rolling.
I see what you mean about the exhaustion; I hadn't thought about it from that perspective, but I think you're right. With everything that happened, they probably would have had the conversation you envision--unless they tabled the argument entirely for another day. By the time they finally had the conversation, it would have been much, much nastier. So perhaps it is best for them that it worked out this way! ;-)
The thing that keeps me really enjoying Adama and Roslin together, as a team or as a couple, is that like in any real adult relationship they are open to a multitude of interpretations, each equally valid and viable. Having to really think about where things will go keeps it interesting.

I'd be more than happy to look at it for you when the time comes. Though I will be incomunicada for parts of mid-June and mid-July, so I guess it will partly depend on timing.
And I definitely agree that it's the complicated, multivalent nature of Adama and Roslin's relationship that I find so appealing. I'm so pleased that the show hasn't ever reduced it to a mere romantic relationship (*knocks very soundly on wood*), and I think the best explorations of their relationship in fic hold all those possible interpretations in the background, even if an individual fic will pick one or another of them.

The devil's in the details! I hope that while you're incommunicada this summer, you'll be off having fun! And if you're around, then hey, free fic!
But yes, I'll be home visiting the folks for a week and a bit in mid-June, and then I leave July 5 for a month in the UK. I know I'll have lots of internet by the middle of the month by the time the research starts, but the first week of the trip is bumming around being a tourist with my mom and aunt, so probably I won't be spending much time online, even if I have it available. But yes, off having fun while incomunicada!

As opposed to all that other, non-free fic... :P

Shhhhh. Don't tell! You'll ruin the secret!
But that trip sounds fantastic. And if you're on vacation, the last thing on your mind should be checking up on livejournal!
