I have just handed in my LAST COURSE ESSAY EVEREVEREVER!!!!!! *dances*

This also means that I have just handed in the first draft of my first dissertation chapter!!!!!! (well, first to be written; it will probably be the third or fourth chapter of the finished dissertation)

I'm kind of a fan of this multiple birds with one stone thing! :)

ALSO, IT IS SPRING AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

The gorgeous day sort of confounds my plans to sit on the couch watching Farscape for the rest of the day--because I want to be outside instead. Kind of a nice dilemma to have, yes?

Oh, and a vocabulary questions for the Brits on my flist (or anyone who just knows more about British usage than I do): when I hear the word "dissertation" I think "PhD research resulting in a big ol' book-like thing hundreds of pages in length that takes several years to write." Yet in Britain "dissertation" seems to mean something different--something that from context seems to be what I think of as "undergraduate thesis." Can anyone confirm, deny, and/or provide more details and nuance for this UK usage?

(Incidentally, usage seems to vary a bit in Canada versus the US, too. In the US, everyone seems to say "dissertation" to refer to the PhD thing, whereas in Canada--or at least at my university--"doctoral thesis" is really the more common term, although "dissertation" is completely synonymous, if less prevalent.)
